Beer of the Day

Oggi's Duck Dive Hefeweizen

Ahh So we come to another Hefeweizen. I know I've already done one but with Hefe being a personal favorite of mine I had to do this one because I am getting home sick. For about 4 months now I've lived in Seattle and used to requent their Temecula, Ca location every weekend with my girl friend. Best bar service I've ever experienced. Mike the bartender can not be beat. But enough about the place lets get to the beer!
So this beer is probably the best Hefe I've ever had outside in the U.S. Now I will admit I haven't tried them all but from the ones I have it is. There is just a sweet taste to it. Not so sweet that its fruity but just enough. I have all my Hefes with an orange. The orange color and smell of the beer just does wonders. This is a beer you can never get sick of. Not to carbonated either. I once drank 25oz without stopping. (I was racing some tools wearing Ed Hardy who thought they could drink)

I hate to break it to you...

but I will not do a light beer or a traditional "American" Beer unless it is a microbrew.
Sorry.

Beer of the Day

Ah yes September 29th. The day my life ends and begins. Anyways thats besides the point, We are hear to talk about beer! I remember having my first black buttw porter while playing Battlefield 2142 in its competition hay day. I actually ad quite a taste for it but had heard you could mix in hot apple cider and it would be cash! Well guess what?!?! It fucking is assholes! Try it, seriously, do it. You will not be disappointed!

"Appears black with a tan head.

It smells slightly smoky, caramel like, vanilla like, and coffee like.

It tastes much like the smell. There is a smooth coffee flavor. A subtle caramel flavor. A slight vanilla flavor. A subtle bitterness. This is very well balanced it is quite creamy.

The carbonation is moderate low.

The drinkability is very good. The balance of the beer makes it go down smooth.

Overall a very good porter. In my opinion there should be slightly bolder flavors in the beer. But it is still an excellent and very drinkable smooth porter."

Beer of the Day

Shiner Bock

As fate would have it I would eventually get around to this beer and I have. This is what I call a perfect "monday" beer. After dealing with the stress of school or work after a nice drunkassness weekend you can sit back relax with some fried food and a Shiner Bock. Now I had the great pleasure of trying all 7 Shiner Brews and out of all of them I was not disappointed. The flow of each and every beer, the taste, and just the all around goodness makes these brews top quality. Go ahead and pack yourself up a pack of any flavor. You deserve it!

Drink of the Day

Liquid 50/50 or as some people would call it "creamcicle"

In honor of it being friday I decided not to post a beer but instead post one of my favorite "gotcha" drinks.
This drink consists of my favorite Rum and least favorite soda. *NOTE* I rarely drink soda haha. But combined these make an excellent pair. Basically it is real easy to make.
Captain Morgan and Sunkist

Glass size of your choice. I usually use a 16 oz glass.
Fill it 3/4s with ice. Pref cubed.
For this step I suggest buying the 1.75 liter of Captain Morgan Rum as it is tastey and will be gone quick!
Fill glass halfway with Rum.
Fill the rest of the glass with Sunkist orange soda.

And there you have it! The best gotcha drink ever. If you get all old school you'll remember the ice cream with the orange on the outside and vanilla on the inside. Its what it tastes like.

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!

Beer of the Day

New Castle Brown Ale

Going with a traditional find anywhere beer this has to be my favorite! I love the sweetness of the caramel which is never too sweet. It is all around a good beer to fill up and get drunk on. I prefer tap to bottle but make your own decision.

A- light brown with foam that disappears pretty quick. A little lacing on the side

S- no question there is some malt with this. The buttery commercialized grain is here as well. Really a spunky scent at the end I don't like

T- sweet flavor and mild malt. Almost watery. Although, the malt is present

M- light, light, light. Smooth coating flavor though

D- look, it's a brown ale made for the masses. Smooth flavor allows this to be slammed though

Beer of the Day

Stack High Gravity Beer.

This one is for you poor faggots out there. I had it tonight. Shit was too sweet tasting for me. It is a 12% Alcohol by Volume. See here in Washington the Liquor is state run which is bullshit. So I just wanted to get fucked up and only had 4 bucks on me. This shit did the trick. With its high alcohol content and $1.39 per 24oz shit did the trick.

A - Clear deep golden colored beer that manages to make a small white head.

A - Smells very fruity from the characteristic scent of beer brewed fast creating a lot of fuses alcohols. Corn smell is there but the fuses mostly dominate the scent.

T - Starts out quite sweet with an alcohol burn and the taste of raw ethanol. That is about it for taste, sweet and alcohol.

M - medium, alcohol doesn't quite dissolve everything.

D - if you can swallow it. Pretty much gives what you would expect, cheap ethanol delivery device wth too sweet of a taste. Not going to finish the glass though.

Beer of the Day

Pumpking
This beer is brewed by Southern Tier Brewing Company http://www.southerntierbrewing.com/index1.html

It is a Pumpkin Ale
Stats: 19 Degrees Plato
8.8 Degrees L
2-row Pale Malt
Caramel Malt
Pureed Pumpkin

Kettle Hops: Magnum
Aroma Hops: Sterling

ABV 2009 7.9%
ABV 2010 9.0%

The first time I had was beer was in Temecula, Ca at a Pub named "Barley and Hops."
I went in expecting to have an experience like I had with a local brew at a restraunt I previously went to. Boy was I ever wrong,

A - Yellow corn colour.

S - Strong waves of sweet pumpkin pie and candy corn, so pleasant!

T - Starts with strong sweet caramel and candy corn flavours, and ends with a sweet chewy pumpkin pie taste, but being 9% abv it is hidden exceptionally well.

M - Medium-Light body, very drinkable and perfect carbonation.

D - So damn drinkable, a little sweet at times, but still... mmm!

Shit guys

Sorry for not posting for 2 weeks. Vacation and work got a hold of me. Will be updating ASAP!

Beer of the Day

Alaskan Summer Ale

Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer.

Availability: Seasonal

On tap or bottle.
